Claire Russo & Liza Serratore
As two young entrepreneurial women starting up an international textile importing business, we understood a great deal about the world market for Nankeen indigo and other Middle Kingdom fabric collections. But about partners, not so much!
After careful due diligence, we found the Partnership Charter, contacted the author and began developing our own Partnership Charter.
Though we were young partners with a small company, you’d have imagined we had a Fortune 500 company on our hands! The Guide who worked with us treated us with the utmost respect as he guided us in conversations and negotiations on topics we’d never considered negotiable. His perspective and deep knowledge of partnerships gave us the confidence to tackle the challenges. The PC process provided a structure and logical flow to the discussions. It set a pace that kept our excitement alive and well channeled.
Throughout the PC process, we had a sense that fairness prevailed, and this encouraged us to take on consecutive units of the Charter with a feeling that we could accomplish whatever lay ahead.
The Partnership Charter process left our partnership and LuRu Home in a resoundingly stronger position. Our most valuable takeaway was facing our differences eye to eye and discovering how they could be strengths – a key “discovery” that has served us well in our journey as partners.
