The Charter process was amazing and gave us the clarity we needed to make major ownership changes. The biggest was splitting off one part of the company so one of my brothers could have his own company. That took time to accomplish, but all of us feel great about it – it was the right move for all of us and most critically, our family relationships are still strong and intact. It clarified much more than just the ownership piece (for example, how the two of us were going to be co-presidents) though the ownership piece was by far the biggest.

With all the family business issues straightened out, my parent’s estate planning attorney was finally able to complete their estate planning. Getting that resolved was only possible because the Charter work first got everything clarified about the company, which was our parents largest asset.
